Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

I just moved out of my rental home. I converted to a month to month lease because I was looking for a house. I gave notice in 30 day notice in February. I was told that the notice would not go into effect until March 1st. Then they say that I have to give 60 day notice. What is the law for month to month renters in georgia?

Usually 30 days for residential property which MUST be on or before the first of the month prior to move out month (February is a little tricky)
