Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I moved into a townhouse which is advertised as being remodeled. Some houses owned by the company have been closed for some time. The leasing manager told me to make a preference list and they would choose the best unit available. I signed the lease without seeing the house. The day I moved in, I noticed that the carpet was a used one and had a strange odor, like 'wet dog'. I asked if it was possible to get rid of the smell of the carpet. My mistake was that I said that it was like a 'humid' smell because I didn't want to sound mean saying it smell like 'wet dog'. She inspected the carpet the next day, told me a second cleaning was done and that the 'humid' smell was because the unit was closed without ventilation. This week I found out the last tenants had THREE BIG DOGS!! I confronted the leasing manager today and she said not having knowledge about this plus she doubted that the owner would replace the carpet. I'm waiting for her response but my son is allergic to pets.
I asked the leasing manager to ask the owner to replace the carpet because my son has developed an allergic skin reaction since we moved to the unit. If owner dnies, I asked her to make me an appointment with the owner to explain my son's health condition. If he denies, my pediatrician will refer my son to an allergist and we will contact the owner with the results.

What is your question? Whatever it is, it is likely answered by the terms of the lease you signed (which you did not mention at all) and the statement that "I signed the lease without seeing the house."
