Permission to sublet
I sublet out my room in a 4 person apartment. My lease stated that without written consent of my landlord, I could not sublet or assing my lease. However, My landlord knew my intention to sublease, helped me find a sublessor, and even helped me find the actual sublease form for the new roommate to sign. My landlord was there for the signing, and accepted the next 10 months of rent from the sublessor until the lease expired. Now, he is claiming he doesn't need to give me my security deposit back because I violated the lease agreement in not having ''written consent.'' What can I do here?

Sue the SOB in small claims court for the amount of your security deposit and any other recoverable costs. Your argument, in part, should be that the landlord by his actions waived his right to have a written consent with respect to your subtenancy.
