Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I used a power of attorney to sign my husband as a co-applicant on our current lease while he was overseas. While overseas and after our lease agreement was signed, my husband was injured. He is being kept by the military at a Warrior Transition Unit for his rehabilitation. The closest one is 3.5 hours away from our leased apartment. He has been there for 5 months and is expected to stay another 9 months. Is there any legal way to break the lease on our apartment so that our kids & I can live closer to him while he goes through his treatment?

Why don't you approach the landlord and explain that your husband was hurt while overseas and that you'd like to move closer to him during treatment? See if you can work something out.
