primises liability

I have a friend who has a unique situation. he provides a roof maintenance service for large retail company. he has recently been hit with several law suits involvin slip falls inside their stores. the situation is such as they are trying to dump all liability on him for slip falls that occur on their premises whether his company was involved in repair of roof or not. how can he combat this situation and make this whole thing stop?
