Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Rental Agreement Question

My Landlord charges my Husband and Myself 100$ extra for letting my brother-in-law stay with us even though there is an extra bedroom in our home. When I signed the rental agreement, it DID NOT state anywhere that I would have to pay extra for housing someone else.

My Landlord changed the rental agreement AFTER I had signed everything to make the agreement read that I would have to pay extra. He just marked right though the original information.

Is this legal?

Also, are rental agreements written by the Landlords themselves or are there state laws/forms that they must follow/use?

Re: Rental Agreement Question

Whether or not to charge for an additional tenant is a point of negotiation between the landlord and tenant. The lease probably disallows adding another tenant without the landlord's consent. So, the landlord would have the right to withhold that consent unless an addition amount is paid. This is common since additional tenants usually mean more wear and tear, parking, etc. There are no forms, leases are simply determined by the landlord and tenant negotiations.
