Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I am currently renting my house and my landlord will not fix my floor that is falling in. I live out in Waleska, which is out in the country. I notified him by letter (which I have extra copies of and his copy was a registered letter so I know he got it) on Aug. 10, 2010 that I would like my floors to be fixed correctly, but he seems to think that going under the house and propping up the areas will work. I have looked online everywhere to see who I should contact about getting an inspection done, but have come up with nothing. I contacted the Building Department who said they only inspect new or remodeled/remodeling projects. I have looked up online who I can contact but have had no luck finding anyone. I feel that I or my visiting company may fall through the floor walking over these areas. I did not mention how long he has to fix the floor, but I am giving him 30 days. He did acknowledge that he got my letter (I have a witness that was with me when he said he would fix the floor) verbally. Who should I contact about getting an inspection done and can I get out of my lease if he won't fix my floors correctly?

Your county or city code enforecement certainly should come out if you make a complaint.
