Repairs of Landlords Lawnmower

I have used the LL mower for 3 months. 3 wks ago would not start so LL came to look. He said would cost $600 in repairs. I asked if I could take it to someone to repair for less. He refused to let me try. In Lease Agrmnt it says ''tenant responsible for maintenance and upkeep of mower while in tenants possesion''. Do I have to pay for damage I did not cause & was refused the oppertunity to repair?

Without reading the lease, I would say that you are responsible for the repair of the mower, but you can take it anywhere to get it fixed as long as it gets fixed.
