Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
What are my rights as a tenant in the state of Georgia?
I am a tenant and the house has been foreclosed. They want to raise my rent by $400. Plus, the new owners are threatening to evict us if we do not give them a security deposit and rent when the house foreclosed Sept. 2.
Are they suppose to acknowledge our original lease?
What can I do?

Per the "Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act of 2009," a tenant may remain on the property at least until the end of the lease and month-to-month tenants are entitled to at least 90 days' notice before having to move out. However, if the buyer intends to live on the property, the buyer may terminate the lease (or require new terms) upon at least 90 days' notice.
