Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Security deposit at Apartment complex

I went to an apartment complex to

lease an apartment. I picked out an

apartment and asked to review the

lease overnight. I was told I had to

leave a refundable security deposit to

take the lease with me which I did.

After reviewing the lease it was so

one sided in the apartment complex's

favor that I decided not to sign it.

The complex deposited the security

deposit and said it was not refundable

because I did not sign the lease nor

did I complete the application for the

apartment. Do I have any legal

recourse to recover the security

deposit?

Re: Security deposit at Apartment complex

By Florida law, a security deposit on an apartment is always refundable unless the apartment is damaged. Only a pet deposit is nonrefundable. You get your money back.
