security deposit

how long can a landlord hold a security deposit-the lease states thirty days (which has already passed) do i have any legal recourse?

Assuming Georgia law applies, the landlord must either return the security deposit or itemize any amounts used within one month from the move out date. However, this is conditioned upon the landlord having a forwarding address for the tenant.
