Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Temporary Rental

I rented a 4 bedroom home completely furnised including all untilites during the renovation of my home due to a fire. I had nothing but issued the entire time (all utilities turn off to furniture being remove while I was not at home. I moved out over 30 days ago and still have not received my security deposit. What should I do?

Re: Temporary Rental

The landlord has one month from the move out date to either return the security deposit or tell you how any amounts were spent (assuming you provided a forwarding address). If the landlord has not returned it or a report on spending within that time, you would have a claim against the landlord. I recommend having an attorney send a demand letter and, if that doesn't work, filing a lawsuit in magistrate (small claims) court.
