Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

I have a tenant claiming illegal eviction, but she never moved any items in and claims that I stole her sofa and dinette table after changing the locks on the side and back door and calling her and offereing her a key to those doors. I made the locks on the front door the same and she received that key the day she moved in. I also advised her that I had to change the locks prior to her signing the lease becasue my past tenant never returned the keys. She insisted on getting the keys even after giving her this information. She has secured legal aid and is demanding $9500, even after giving me a bad deposit check that she refused to make good on and falsifying information on the rental application. Her current complex can vouch that she still lives there while she contends that she is homeless and has changed her kids schools and so forth.

You need to speak to a local landlord-tenant attorney right away. Wrongful evictions are usually very fact specific, so you will need to discuss everything with your attorney.
