Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Tenant problem

I allowed a former co-worker to move into my home with the terms that she would pay $500 a month including utilities. I told her I would give her a little time to find a job, but that she had to work and that she had to pay rent. She is now working.

She has paid me a total of $114 since she moved in January and I have repeatedly asked her for rent. She says she doesn't have it, so I have asked her to move out. She told me that I could'nt make her move out without filing an eviction notice with the court. Is this true? There never was a lease. Now she is costing me and I am retired on a fixed income.

Re: Tenant problem

Yes. Landlords are required to file a dispossessory (eviction) action with the courts before legally removing a tenant or preventing a tenant from remaining on the property.
