Theft

I moved out of a rented house at the end of the school year. The new tenents moved in a day before my lease expired and I asked the new tenents if he could leave some furniture in the house until I returned in one month. They agreed to store the furniture in an unused room in the house. When I returned to pick up the furniture, the new tenets said they had thrown my furniture away. I do not believe this because the furniture was in very good shape. I feel the tenets either sold the furniture or are using it. Do I have any recoarse

Probably, as long as you can show that the new tenants did in fact agree to store your property. Depending on the value of the property, filing in magistrate (small claims) court is probably your best bet if you cannot work it out with them. If the value is substantial enough, have an attorney send them a demand letter before filing any lawsuit.
