Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
Last year, I signed a lease for 12 months running from what I thought was September 1, 2015 to August 31, 2016. Now Im being told that if I intend to move out at the end of this lease, (or at the end of another lease, if I choose to renew,) I actually must move out 3 days earlier than the ending of the lease! This is because when I signed this lease, I also paid a prorated charge up front to move in 4 days early, that is, August 28, 29, 30, & 31, and so the lease actually runs from August 28, 2015 to September 27, 2016! When I pointed out that I will be paying a full months rent for September but not getting a full months value because I have to move out early, the manager didnt seem to get it and gave me some answer about the leasing company will only let a certain number of leases expire at the end of each month. Whats going on here? Is this a common practice in Georgia and is it legal?

There is no "I thought" for the major lease terms. The lease has a date on which it ends, and the monthly rent amount.
