Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Georgia

Non fullfillment of contract

My son engaged a lawyer for a divorce & he obtained the divorce. He had some disputes, a year later with his ex-wife over her not following the court order with regards to their daughter. He rehired the lawyer to help with his disputes & paid him. The lawyer has postpoined the hearing & will not return numerous calls to him. Does my son have any recourse to get the fee back or get the lawyer to fullfill his obligations. Thanks

Re: Non fullfillment of contract

Without getting into the minimal, indirect facts stated, your son can call and speak with the lawyer or the lawyer's assistant/paralegal (not the receptionist), and clearly convey the importance of a return call. Follow up with e-mail. A client can almost always terminate the lawyer and ask for a refund of an unused retainer.
