Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Georgia

I am getting terminated from Academy Sports and Outdoors because I used a vending machine and the machine gave me back my money. Unknown to me the machine was malfunctioning. I offered to pay the owner of the vending machine back $1.00 and I did but an hour later he gave the money back then stated HR will handle the situation. Others have used the machine knowing it was malfunctioning and have gotten fired.
