Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Georgia

I have a malpractice question about a case involving a colon cancer patient who has chron's disease. The doctors treating her knew about the chron's ( fistulizing ) and once the large instestine was removed they have been hiding the cancer from us for one year ( Dec. 26th ). We are just now finding out there is cancer present. The one big thing is that in November, just before the surgery in Dec. a large bladder mass was found and left. No biopsy, no nothing with the bladder mass that had been there long enough that the colon and the bladder had a hole connecting them which allowed fecal matter to spill over into the bladder. The doctors were aware of this and kept this information from us, we found out only after they did a liver biopsy and I got a copy of the disk... I want to sue them for negligence, failure to diagnose, failure to treat, Now she has no hope of recovery, there are fistulas everywhere in her abdomen starting to burst and one of them has tunnelled 6 inches into a cavity.

This is very sad and I am sorry to learn these facts. In med mal cases, the general inquiry is: what did the medical provider do wrong, and second, did the wrongdoing directly cause the bad outcome. Cancer cases are particularly difficult, because of the complexities of the presentation of the disease and the variability in the growth rates of cancer. In addition, here, you have articulated a second claim, to wit, the doctor's knowledge, and that claim also presents a variety of challenges. You should immediately order all medical records from all providers going back for at least 2 years and meet with an experienced medical malpractice attorney in the state in which the malpractice occurred.
