Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Georgia

son died unnecessarily

I have contacted an attorney, but I am wondering just what kind of case I truly have. He is ready to file suit. My son was born with transposition of the great vessels, a common heart defect, that is easily, corrected with surgery, if found. The problem is that my OB/GYN missed the request for a(n) echocardiogram, she admitted it to me at my post-op visit, but she called it another ultrasound. I have gotten all my medical records, my son's medical records, and autopsy. I also feel the hospital is at fault where my son died. The hole they made in my son's heart (called a balloon septostomy) was put there so his body could be allowed to mix his blood, my son's heart natually tried to heal this hole, and he was allowed to die. There was a procedure called a(n) atrial septosmy that could've been done, but was not. He was allowed to suffer, and his blood to go acidic. I feel the cardiologist on call did not come quickly enough. I am in the process of having this reviewed independantly of my attorney for my own peace of mind. My son was allowed to arrest twice upon his arrival to this hospital via helicopter. He suffered possible brain damage in the Cath Lab under the same doctor who was on call the night he died, and I want answers.
