Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Georgia

Statute of Limitations

Would like to know how long one has before filing a lawsuit against a physician. This relates to problems encountered after the birth of my child in Feb. 1999.I did not pursue this issue sooner as I worked for the same hospital as the physician did. I did not feel it wise to attempt to sue the company I worked for. If you need specific information regarding the problem please feel free to contact me. Thanks

Re: Statute of Limitations

You have two years from the date of the negligent act to file a lawsuit. Keep in mind that most law firms do not want to take a case that is close to the deadline, so you should consult a lawyer as soon as possible to determine if you have a case. If you would like to share the details of your case, please reply.

Re: Statute of Limitations

In general, the statue of limitations in a medical malpractice is 2 years from the date of the alleged malpractice. Therefore, it would seem you have a short period of time to act. I would suggest you contact an attorney who specializes in medical malpractice as soon as possible.
