Legal Question in Military Law in Georgia

Alcoholic military husband

I would like to know what the ramifications are for an enlisted military member that is aircrew that is an alcoholic and enters rehabilitation on his own? I know he will lose his flight status but can he get it back? What will go on he record? Will the military support his decision to enter without punishing him? He recognizes he has a problem but is scared this will ruin his career so he is very hesitant about seeking out the care that we desperately believe he needs.

Ma'am, alot of times whether there are ramifications is driven by the command. That said, the regulations support self-referral, and there is not suppose to be any punitive fallout. Yes, he should be able to regain flight status, but it may not be as quick as he'd like. That's an important issue, and I think there would be a lot of wisdom in knowing precislely what his rights are relative to his flight status. What service - Army, AIr Force, other?
