Re: question

What is your goal?

Are you wanting to get things straightened out with the unit so you can stay in the guard? If so, then you need to get back to your unit ASAP, but when you do bring along your civilian medical records so you can get the medical care you need. As for the red cross message, the red cross should have verified the validity of it, but if you stay home now that you know your grandma is alive you could get in trouble. You probably won't get worse than an article 15 if you get back soon.

If you want to be discharged, the advise is pretty much the same. Get as much documentation as possible about your knee and mental health issues before you go back. It might be helpful to consult first though with a lawyer to try to negotiate with your command first. The red cross message business definitely complicates things for sure. I would definitely tell any well-meaning family members that you don't need that kind of help.

Good luck!

James
