Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
My 19 yr old was coming out of a school lot and hit a motorcyclist. The victim is ok and came out with a broken ankle. My child was charged with failure to yield left and recently a count added with serious injury misdemeanor by the county. We have an bond arraignment hearing and have no idea what to expect. My child has never had any tickets or accidents. What kind of bond should be expected and if we do not have the money or own a home, what would happen? We only own two cars. Why a bond if it was an accident? There are reports of witnesses that mention the obstruction of view and how they felt my child did not see the motorcyclist.

It appears you son is being prosecuted for an apparent misdemeanor, which carries with it a potential 12 month prison sentence and $1,000.00 fine. I suggest that you retain a criminal defense lawyer immediately to address the issue of bond as well as the inevitable prosecution. This is one instance where you need professional assistance (this is not a DIY project, let a professional guide you and your family sooner rather than later).

Best of luck,
Get your son a criminal lawyer ASAP.
Since it sounds like your son is facing up to a year in jail and a $1000 fine, it is vital that you get him a lawyer immediately.
