Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I was in an accident about a month ago. I was coming from a restaurant and I crossed over the northbound lanes, stopped in the yellow middle lane, and prepared to merge into the southbound traffic. As I was merging a car beeped its horn and tried to go around me. My car, and the car trying to go around mine, collided. The other driver told the police, she was trying to turn where I was merging and she did not see me. The police gave me the ticket, because he said the lane we were both in is a actually a turning lane and should not be used for merging. Is this in fact ture. Is the yellow lane between the northbound and southbound lanes legally turning lanes and should not be used for turning? Or can I argue my case in court?

There is no such thing as a merging lane. What you did was illegal.
