Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
Asbestos Exposure
I was employed for several years by a municipality. During 2 of those years my office was located in a previously abandoned building. My department was privatized, and the private company immediately vacated myself and my direct employees from the building. The building was padlocked, wrapped in yellow caution tape and signs were posted warning of extremely high asbestos levels and threatening immediate dismissal of employees that entered the area. The municipality had tested and was aware of the conditions prior to placing employees there, even asking that they sweep the friable asbestos off the floors. Any liability?

Re: Asbestos Exposure
There may well be, but you must be able to prove damages. A chest x-ray will easily show if you have asbestos fibers in your lungs. If there is lung damage, please get in touch with me immediately. Encourage your co-workers to also have chest x-rays.

Just curious as to what is going with your potential case.
Re: Asbestos Exposure
Exposure to asbestos is very serious. Even if you have no symptoms now disease (asbestosis, cancer, etc.)can manifest itself many years from now.First, you (and everyone else who may have been exposed) should immediately be examined from one end to other including chest x-rays.I see a workers comp claim here at minimum and the possibility of other claims as well. You should begin by reporting the exposure to your supervisor and asking to be sent to a doctor at the expense of your employer's comp carrier(this situation surfaced after the private company took over). This is a very complicated situation and what to do depends on many factors.Call me at (770)427-8468 for a free consultation immediately so I can get better and more detailed information from you.
