Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
Bad neighbors, no leashes on dogs, pooping without picking up, etc....
The situation between my neighbors and I has gotten untenable. They have several large dogs. They refuse to pickup their dogs poop, refuse to keep their dogs on a leash, have yelled and verbally abused us when we ask nicely "Can you please get your dog off our property?", "Can you please pick up your dogs poop?". In a nutshell, they hate us and we hate them. We have zero communication. My wife has developed a thyroid problem because of the stress of seeing them running around our yard and the cul-de-sac where we live. Other neighbors also do not care or are too old to come out of the house.
We have captured video/pictures of these events. I want to sue them, but I'm having problems finding a lawyer that will issue a "cease-and-desist" order or take my case to court. It seems all the "Animal Law" lawyers only handle "dog bites", for which THANKFULLY that hasn't happened yet. How can I get some legal remedy?

Lawyers don't enter "cease and desist orders" (or any orders for that matter). Judges enter orders, after lawsuits are filed. Additionally, this is not an issue of "animal law." Most areas probably have many lawyers who will deal with the issue, whether that is write a letter or go to court for nuisance or trespass. The key is how much you want to pay a lawyer on an hourly basis to handle it. Since your ZIP is in the metro Atlanta area, try general practice lawyers. You might also try calling the police for the sole purpose of having them witness you telling the neighbors to stay off your property or they can be arrested for trespass. Keep words like "hate" and other emotions out of it. Of course, the best thing to do in neighbor situations is to work it out, avoid hassle and the expense.
Most counties and cities have a leash law. Yours probably does, too. Call the county and complain. Ask for the animal control unit to come out.
