Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

Dear Attorney,

My sister bought a bag of molded bagels this past Friday from a well known supermarket, without realizing it, because when she looked at the expiration date it read March 04 2010. The date she purchased the bagels was on Feb 19 2010.

When she returned home and watching a couple of movies, she made herself an egg bagel in a dim lit room. Without knowing it she had eaten a bagel that had a funky mold on the bottom of it.

The next day she became violently sick. Vomiting, diarrehea, upset stomach and cold sweats was how she spent the rest of her awful weekend. She has her receipt and the bag of bagels. Should they be liable for selling dangerous foods to their customers?

My legal question is: Does she need an attorney or how can she be compensated from her ordeal?

Sincerely,

Tom Livsey

With or without an attorney, I doubt anybody is going to offer much for a bad or even a terrible weekend. It's usually only cases where there is some terrible or permanent injury where any money to speak of is involved. I would tell her to hassle with them herself first, and if she's not satisfied with whatever, if anything, is offered, she could then consult with an attorney. Or, on the other hand, she could reverse the process, consult with an attorney first without signing anything and then give it her best shot.
