Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

Falsely Accused For Inappropriate Language

I currently have a commercial employment contract and work in a public charter school. Today I was accused of using highly inappropriate language toward a student.

Do I have any legal recourse if I am terminated based on a false accusation?

Thanks.--name removed--from Atlanta

Re: Falsely Accused For Inappropriate Language

The short answer to your question is: it all depends on your employment contract. Does your contract or the school administration grant some type of appeal or hearing to determine the validity of the accusations? If so, then you will need to exercise those rights under the contract or the charter's bylaws. If you would like to give me a call, we can discuss it in greater detail.

Call an attorney before things go any further, or you make any additional statements to anyone.

As stated, read your contract and paperwork, and any related employee manuals. You do not need a lawyer to take that step. If you see a lawyer, make sure it is one who primarily practices in the employment area. Check websites, etc., for information on that.
