Re: Fourth Amendment

You do do a google search and get all the information you can read. Understanding it enough to write a policy, presumably starting from little or no knowledge on the subject, is a different story. That is why it is generally left to the experts, and is not a DIY project. If it is worth having a policy, it is worth having one that actually does what is intended. Is the safety and risks associated with caring for minors worth it?

If it were I, I would start by talking to a cop, sheriff's deputy, etc. and/or a private investigator with a law enforcement background. These guys not only have the "book learning" but also practical experience. Also, if you have access to a current or former prosecutor, that would be a great source of info.

As a former nurse who wrote hospital polices, I highly recommend that you explain to whomever might hold the reigns on the institutional funds that this is a job that an attorney should collaborate with you on. If it is a state facility, then the state probably has a staff attorney who can be called upon for assistance.
