Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
Legal Ethics: Business Solicitation
My question is more about ethical code surrounding the legal practice.
I have an attorney who has contacted me repeatedly seeking to represent me (I was recently involved in an auto accident, for which I actually need no legal assitance).
Is it legal for an attorney to solicit business? If the answer is yes, at what point do his unsolicited and unwelcomed calls technically become a nusiance? If his actions are not ethical, how do I lodge a complaint against him and/or his practice?
Thank you!!

In my opinion you should call the Georgia State Bar and have them answer the question definitively. If you decide to complaint about these actions, you can do that at the same time. State Bar can be reached at 404-527-8700 or 800-334-6865. Good luck.
Re: Legal Ethics: Business Solicitation
The overwhelming majority of attorneys would never solicit business from a person who has been injured in an automobile accident. I would strongly urge you to contact the State Bar of Georgia and report this conduct. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

To register a complaint about a lawyer, one alternative is to report the lawyer to the state bar. For Georgia, contact the State Bar of Georgia, phone 800-334-6865 or 404-527-8700. They will send you forms to complete and return to them for evaluation. Signed Charles Myers, Paralegal

It is my understanding that an attorney cannot directly contact you in an effort to represent you for personal injury. You should report this attorney to the State Bar Asso. Their number is 404/527-8700 or 1-800/334-6865.
Re: Legal Ethics: Business Solicitation
An attorney can contact an injury victim to solicit employment only in writing and only at least 30 days have passed since the injury date. Direct in-person solicitation of injury victims is a serious offense that should be reported immediately to the State Bar of Georgia. See http://gabar.org.
