Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

Minor injury at day care

My three year old daughter suffered a minor injury at day care, a gash on her chin which required 4 stitches and will most likely leave a scar. I have insurance through my employer, so I was only required to pay a copay for her treatment, but I also lost most of a day of work. Is it reasonable and customary for a day care to offer to cover charges in any such case?

In my experience, day care facilities may have insurance which offers a med pay feature. Normally they do not offer to reimburse for lost time at work, unless there is an issue of negligence on their part regarding the injury to the child.

Re: Minor injury at day care

I am sorry your daughter was injured. The idea about med pay is a good one. Check on it for your medical bills. As for your lost wages, this is ordinarily not covered in a situation such as this one. Certainly if the injury was no one's fault, you should just let it go. If it was arguably someone's fault, POLITELY ask the center to reimburse you the day's pay and if it will not, it'probably not worth the grief to argue about it. Good luck to you.
