Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
My private Financial Information was emailed by my former Apartment Complex Manager to the wrong email address, putting me at risk of Identity Theft. I have contacted their legal department and here is what they said ... "to apologize on behalf of [name of apt] that your Final Account Statement was sent to someone else�s e-mail address. This was an error on our part and we have corrected the e-mail address in our system."
My first response to them I demanded that they do something about this and this was what they said ... "In your e-mail to us on October 17th, you refer to being made completely whole. I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify specifically what we need to do for you in order to rectify this situation."
This is a very large and nationally recognized Apartment Management Company.
What can I do?

At this point, unless your identity is stolen, you have no damages. It would be reasonable to ask that they pay for a year or a couple years of free credit monitoring, and I'm sure they would agree to that.
You also don't tell us what you expect, or whether the incident has caused you any damages at all at this point. Someone made a mistake. You do not have a legal issue at this point. As Stated you might get them to pay a small amount for monitoring and unless you have actual identify theft, you should be satisfied with that.
