Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
I was recently attacked by a former friend in the front of my workplace. I have a police report that states what happened. She pushed me in the chest and punched me in the mouth. I have several witnesses that can confirm what happened. I also have medical reports from when I went to the emergency room because I have an enlarged heart and sickle cell so that attack has really affected my health. I pressed charges but the police didn't do anything because they read facebook messages we sent back and forth, and saw that I told her to come to my job at for and talk, however that's what I meant was talk and she made it physical. You can argue with someone as much as you want but don't assault someone. However the police did not understand that. So with that said, I have decided to possibly try to sue her in small claims court for personal injury (assault) pain and suffering and mental anguish. Do you think I have a good solid case against her ? I have a police report, witnesses, and medical reports, and messages of her threatening me. So do I have a case? And what are the steps I need to take to file a solid claim ?

You can always sue for the medical bills themselves. If you are trying for anything more, you will need to subpoena expert witnesses and doctors, most of which will charge you a great deal to testify. Nothing in your post says you have a good case (but perhaps you left out things that matter). If only a few hundred dollars are involved, do a small claims case. If you really were seriously injured, see a lawyer.
