Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

How can I sue someone for defaming my character at work

I was an Instructor at a college. A student cliams I made a sexual comment to her. She never pursued it beyond complaining to my superiors. The people I worked for questioned me about it. I absolutlely denied this and persisted in wanting to investigate it further.

I was told I was not being accused of anything, but after that, I was not allowed contact with students and eventually terminated.

I want to sue this student.

My professional reputation is spotless.

I believe the student had a personal problem and can prove it.

I read your posting with interest. If you are questioning your right to sue, it appears that, based on the facts related, you have a defamation claim against the student where the injury was in your profession, obviating the need to show special damages. You may have recourse against the school but this is more a visceral feeling on my part than concrete legalscholarship. However, it would be worth investigating. Is it a public or private school? These are difficult cases.
