Legal Question in Product Liability in Georgia
Diamond not what was thought to be
My husband purchased my diamond engagement ring back in June of 2001 from Zales. This ring cost over $5000. It is supposed to be a certified Zales diamond. After we purchased the ring, we noticed a ''flaw''. My husband took the ring back to get re sized and asked them about this and they said that was the diamond that we picked out. You couldn't really see the flaw and didn't really think twice about it. Well as the years have gone by the flaw has gotten bigger. We took the ring to a diamond dealer to see about the resale value and this appraiser told us that we got ripped off and the diamond was not even close to being worth that. Unfortunetly, we never took the ring in to get cleaned on a regular schedule. I really feel that we got a rotten deal and I want to know if I have any legal recourse?

Possible fraud/misrepresentation. However, to hire an attorney for this type of case you will likely have to pay a fee by the hour versus a contingency. At least that would be how we would proceed.
