Quite possibly, though we don't know the terms of a will if there was one. After your significant legal fees and reduced sale price of the house because of a quick sale, how much would you get? What would be the damage to your relationship with your family because you sued them? If you want a family fight over money because you want immediate money (even if it s far less than the potential future value) go right ahead.

The answer depends on the terms of the will, if there was one.

A joint land owner usually can sue to partititon land. If the case is contested, expect to pay at least $`5000 to $10000 in legal fees. Also recognize that property sold by court order usually sells at far under its value, and that in today's market, real estate values already are depressed.

Consider whether you want to be permanently ostracized from your family as well.
