Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
Answer to a Dispossessory Warrant
How do you answer a Dispossessory Warrant due to a home foreclosure?
I am a single mom, with two small children, my husband left me during 01/06 and did not pay any bills, I wanted to buy our home, but because I was not on the mortgage or deed I had no recourse.
Please advise, ASAP.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Answer to a Dispossessory Warrant
A lawyer can properly file an answer. We do not know the facts. I will add that while you may have a defense (again, see a lawyer), many people put time, energy and money into fighting a foreclosure or dispossessory when that energy could be well spent searching for a place they can afford. There is no general right to stay in a place without paying, whether it is a rental, or after foreclosure. Many people find their possessions on the street (this is literally what happens) because they think they can delay. Again, this may or may not apply, and is just a mention of what happens time and time again. Check with a lawyer of you think you may have a defense.
