Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
My boyfriend lived in my home for 5 years. I finally quick claimed 50% 0f the house to him. He went onto the deed, but the mortgage is still in my name. After 7 months of the transaction he moved out. During the 7 mos. he paid 50 % of the mortgage. After he moved out he has contributed nothing. He refuses to sign his percentage back to me. He refuses to consider a payoff. He wants to wait until I sell the house in the future & then will discuss it w/ me. What are my options?

You gave him half the house. He owns half. He doesn't have to give it or sell it back.
You can hire a lawyer to file a partition case, force a sale, and divide the proceeds 50-50.
If you have a contract with him that requires him to do anything, such as pay you or transfer it back, you leave out that important detail. Otherwise, it is your obligation to pay the entire mortgage for your 50% ownership in the house. A partition action would likely cost several thousand dollars if contested. It is going to be a very expensive lesson in what not to do in the future.
