Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
brothers split land
my dad and uncle own farm land, recently the uncle has gotten upset with dad(for unkn reasons) and someone told him to split up the land because ''they might steal you blind'' comment was made! My dad, my brother, and myself have farmed that land for many many yrs with NO UNLCE AROUND. My dad has paid 100% of the taxes on the TOTAL land (including my uncle's half) for many years. My question is, since we are very scared he will sell his half, and we love the land and have worked it with blood sweat and tears literally, if we paid the taxes on it lock stock and barrel, after so many years..wouldnt it be ours anyhow? say after 7 years? thanks so much for your help

Just paying the taxes does not alone entitle your father to anything. However, it would help his case. You should consult with a local attorney about a Petition to Partition the property.
Re: brothers split land
No, you would not own the land by paying the taxes. Your uncle's ability to sell the land would depend on his ownership, i.e. how does he own the land? It may be that he can't sell the land anyway.
