Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

In Cobb Co. are there laws that prevent an individual from having a vehicle on his/her private property that is parked correctly and is not a junk vehicle? I have a vehicle that runs and looks okay and it is not registered/no tag. The vehicle does not leave my property and is not being worked on. I start the car weekly. A representative from Marietta Police came here 4 months ago and when he left all was "OK."

Then another rep. came here and ticketed me for $165.00 for having that car on my property. Please help. Thanks...

You are asking us about "laws," but you got a ticket and in all likelihood the ticket tells you what laws or ordinances they claim you violated. You had another police officer visit and you no doubt discussed the issue as well. For some reason, you chose to tell us no details about the ticket and the issue with the police. Look on your ticket for your answer.

First of all you asked the wrong question. You asked about Cobb County ordinances (which do not apparently apply to you since you reference the Marietta police.

Like most cities, Marietta bans junked cars such as yours:

9-12-010 bans junked cars which are defined as any car that can't be operated on the roads. A vehicle without a tag cannot be so operated.

Other ordinances give the city the right to tow your car if you don't deal with this. So pay your fine, buy a tag, and avoid further tickets.
