Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

How to collect money owed

My ex-husband owes me $50,000. I have a signed/noterized statement to this. Until resently, I felt I had no way to collect because he had nothing in his name, but now I found out his is one of the owners listed on a valuable piece of property. Is there any way I can filed a lien on this property?

Re: How to collect money owed

Unless the debt is secured by the house or legally connected to the debt (which it sounds like it is not), than you must first file a lawsuit and obtain a judgment. Then, you may take collection action, such as placing a lien on the property.
