Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

deceased estates

my father passed 15 years ago. he left 30 acres of land to my mother and i, who recently passed also. I realized the land is still in his name. Should i have it changed into my name or is it ok to continue to leave it in his?

Re: deceased estates

You should get the property properly deeded to yourself. Consult with a local attorney.

Re: deceased estates

You can leave it in his if you want to have a second round of mistakes and problems. Otherwise, see a lawyer to straighten out the prior mistakes (which might be more costly now) and to handle things correctly this time. Whether that means put in in your name, or something else, since we have no idea who she left it to, whether there was a will, etc.
