Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Easements

How must an easement be recorded on a deed and plat of a property purchased? I recently bought a piece of property and was told there is an easement for a road to other properties. My deed and plat do not have any easement recorded on them. Could the easement be recorde some place else? Where would I look? Note: There is a dotted line on my plat, but there is nothing that states it is an easement/road or any legal discriptions attached. Thank You for your help.

Re: Easements

The easement, if one exists, could be recorded in the deed records department of the office of clerk of the Superior Court in the county where the land lies. It could be a separate document that might not show up on your plat or deed. You might be well advised to consult with a local attorney who handles real estate transactions. He/she will know how to check to see if an easement exists. You might also ask the person who told you about the easement what is the basis of his/her statement of its existenece.
