Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
If a family member pays $15,000.00 on a deposit for a home, what is a good way to ensure that that family member will not later on try to say that I have to pay him/her back and/or that I owe him/her equal to the deposit?

The best way is to spend a couple hundred dollars and have a lawyer draft a proper agreement.
The best way to spend thousands later arguing over the $15,000 (using lawyers) is to not see a lawyer now.

If you believe there is a chance that the money will lead to a dispute, or perhaps be a negative in the relationship with family (such as the person always holding it over your head, or expecting something in return), your best option may be to decline the money and not let it be an issue.
