Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Forgery

I recently learned that a realestate agent fordged my name to a contract stating that I would pay $2000 toward the buyers closing cost. This was in 1996 and I had never sold a house before so I wasn't educated on Hud statemets. I have submitted copies of the contract to the Broker of the agent. Is there a way to file some sort of aphidivit so this person would have to pay me back the money? Is it too late to do anything about this now? thanks

Re: Forgery

If the facts you write are true, you may have a claim for fraud against the Real Estate Agent who forged your name and, perhaps, the Broker. While Broker's are legally responsible for Agents actions, they cannot be held accountable for overt criminal conduct to which they did not participate and are unaware.

Anyway, if you are interested in pursuing it, contact Brian Setliff in our office at

By the Way, a mere affidavit will not solve your problem.
