Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

On Jan. 19, 2014 my 2 year old quarter horse escaped somehow out of the pasture at 1:00 am and made it to Highway and was struck and killed by a truck. I live in Georgia and was wondering what the laws are concerning my responsibilities. The driver of the truck is a young man and is just now contacting me about payment. Am I legally responsible for repairs to his truck?

You are liable. You should have insurance that covers this (check your homeowners or renters insurance). Let them know about the claim and they should handle it for you. Do NOT cut a side deal with the driver; your insurer may refuse coverage if you do. (You should have called your insurer on Jan. 19. Do that in the next few minutes.)
