Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Lease termination due to ext circumstances

Due to the events of 9/11 I have been laid off my travel industry job. I have looked and it will be impossible to find anything compensating me enough to remain in my current apartment in this area. I have been offered another position but it would require a move. My lease calls for an outrageous amount of fees/notice etc to terminate early, but due to the circumstances, I don't really seem to have a choice, do I?

Re: Lease termination due to ext circumstances

The contract provisions of "early termination," are always looked at without regard to the nonlegal facts you pose: 1) that you lost your job, 2) that we are in a recession, and, 3) events of 9/11. Georgia Courts are prohibited from considering those factors with regard to the contract (lease) you discuss. Sorry. HCW
