Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
Leasing
I had my house for sale on the internet and received a call from an investment company asking me if I would like to lease the property to them for 2 years at $700 a month, $1500 down and at the end of two years if they did not sell it, they would buy it for a set price. They also were responsible for the renters.
I received a copy of the contract, took it to a lawyer, he said it looked good, and I agreed to the terms. They led me through the process with the agreement I would have to vacate by nov. 10 so they could inspect the property and payments would start Dec. 1,2006. That came and went and I kept emailing and calling with no response. When I vacated, I moved to Pa. and got another property. Now I have two places to pay for and can not. I was led into this by this company and now I get no response. All my expenses were based on this deal and they knew it. What are my rights?

Re: Leasing
Obviously, you will need to have a lawyer review the documents, try to find the other people, and possibly check the condition of the property. We have none of that to review, so no one can tell you what rights you have. You may also have to engage a real estate agent to lease the property. A transaction like the one you described raises many red flags. Perhaps the lawyer you engaged before is the first place to start.
