Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Letter to the F.B.I

Hello, My condo in Atlanta was foreclosed in November 2005. I was new to the state and when I bought it, without my knowledge, became a victim of mortgage fraud. I found out about it later, but by then it was too late. I would like to sue, but I read on The Internet and other places, that I should write a letter to the F.B.I., since they are fighting these type of white collar crimes. The letter is written. Do I need to consult with a lawyer first. or just send it? Thank you.

Re: Letter to the F.B.I

No, you could send the letter you've written to the F.B.I. at any time without the need for consulting with an attorney. You should bear in mind, however, that what the F.B.I. may be doing in regard to your matter is conducting a criminal investigation which would in no way prevent you from pursuing your lawful civil claims against these alleged home mortgage fraudsters.

Re: Letter to the F.B.I

If you are interested in recovering money, you may wish to hire an attorney to determine whether the entity that committed the mortgage fraud has any potential to respond in damages to a lawsuit. Please contact me in the event that you wish to discuss what this entails. As far as reporting the fraud, you may also want to contact the U.S. Attorney's office in Atlanta, here is the contact information:

Re: Letter to the F.B.I

Since Georgia has such a high rate of mortgage fraud, there are several lawyers in town who have handled many such cases and are familiar with the names, usual suspects, condo developments, etc. They will usually be a step ahead of other lawyers who have not regularly handled these cases.
